Supporting Queen Elizabeth
Central Hospital in Malawi
Since 2010 Chira Fund has been helping to improve the quality of care comfort and dignity of adult medical patients in Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Blantyre, Malawi.
Over 45% of the 10,000 patients admitted to the hospital every year are HIV positive and more than 30% of those admitted will not survive. The HIV crisis, population growth and lack of funds for maintenance has resulted in wards that are seriously overcrowded and poorly maintained. As is often the case worldwide adult medical patients are not often the target of donor funding.
COVID-19 in MALAWI
The world is going through a difficult time battling with Coronavirus.
We at ChiraFund are partnering with Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital here in Malawi, who are doing everything they can to prepare.
We are also coordinating as best we can with other donors and charities on the ground.
ChiraFund carries out projects to both upgrade and help maintain the infrastructure at Queens in line with our underlying aim, which is always to ‘make patients’ lives better’.
We work to find donors as well as working with donors who come to us to help. We are very grateful for all this support, without which we would not be able to achieve any of the vital work that has been such help at Queens.
We are thankful to our generous sponsors for their continued support of ChiraFund, we couldn't do it without you!
